Hi,

With luck my surgery will occur in early July (since my operation has been transfered to Duke from the VA hospital. It's only taken 6 months of Hell and red tape and the loss of over 100 lbs of health. At 6'4" and 160 lbs I look a lot more streamlined than I did (lol). So as soon as my hands are steady enough to endure prolonged typing again I will be back and eager to read and critique your submissions- Hopefully in time for the August cycle. So lets get some...

I'm writing a weird little post apocalyptic tale about two guys who herd zombies for slaughter. It's a post-apocalyptic zombie western, sorta.
One of the characters, Red Hawk, is a former poet and professor who's gone batshit crazy with the apocalypse and quotes poetry, both real and my own invention. He proclaims himself a phony Indian, a rare breed. His foil is a laconic, foul mouth rancher who finds himself doing the same old thing he's been doing for the last...

I think I know the answer to this one, but:

1)Do you only except Horror/Suspense writing pieces? I have written Horror, but lately, to see my evolution in writing one would have to read my recent stories in what seem to be in the this memoir, "autobiofictional" mode. That's not to say Life is a Horror!

2) I find it hard to critique a piece if I do not know if it is intended as a stand alone short story or...

Originality VS good storytelling

In between visits to the hospital to see my stepdad i started a new short story. As I'm writing it I can see how the ending would/could be predictable.

My question is would an editor overlook (for lack of a better word) something predictable if it's told well?

Been super busy as of late so I rushed my subs for last month and next so there would be something there.

Thank you for the excellent critiques. Several fleas were there and it will be easier to fix the story with y'all's notes.
