Apex is a very nice publication. Even a short hiatus would be a shame.
I haven't renewed recently due to money issues, but as soon as I've got the cash, I will.

Somebody emailed and made a good point...I didn't mention how long the drive will last. The answer: May 31st. That will also be the last day to get a lifetime sub.

Apex consistently provides a forum for new and established writers in a fragmented and sometimes unprofessional market. Just as important, there is non-fiction and literate reviews managed by an apt editorial team. Its a magazine I's like to see more often. Hopefully, the subscription drive works, since its been published regularly and reliably with a marked increase in quality from the debut issue.

As usual during subscription drives, I am knocked off my feet by the swell of support for Apex. Hugs around the house, on me!

Others have joined the "Incentive to Subscribe" party. Apex editor Jodi Lee has offered to dye "chunks" of her hair alien green if we get 20 lifetime subscribers. We're at 10. Hear that Louise Bohmer...I have a feeling this was a challenge directed...

Don't count me among the potential qualifiers for the Apex For Life offer... I'm about to go buy my own.

In a time when the markets for short horror fiction seem are small, it seems smart to help out with a nicely packaged, well-produced and well-edited magazine.

CD and Weird Tales have built-in audiences due to their reputations and the editorial brilliance that allows them to maintain those reputations. Subterranean Magazine is, like CD, tied to a very successful...

People should only subscribe to APEX if they want to see good, fresh fiction have a place to call home. There are so many good stories being written, do we really want to lose the chance to see some of them?

Naysayers claim the short story is doomed, but it's alive and well in terrific magazines like Apex. It would be a shame for a great magazine like this to go on hiatus or--gasp--fold.

Okay, I'm going to come right out and say it. The magazine needs more subscribers. Probably doesn't come as any shock, as this happens every year.

So we're going to do an old-fashioned subscription drive.

The reality of the situation is that we need 150 new subscribers (or roughly $3000), or we're looking at a hiatus until I have enough disposable income to push out another issue. I use the term "hiatus"...
