Thanks, Gary. And "even Lorne!"? He grasped this concept early on (way back before ANY publisher took this on) and delivered a first-rate story. I also think his string of recent successes speak for themselves. He's a helluva writer, and his hard work and attention to his craft is starting to pay off, with dividends. I'm happy as hell to have had the chance to include him in this fine TOC.

I remember the whole music anthology dialog from years ago and how you were already formulating the Springsteen anthology. I'm proud of you for keeping your vision alive and putting this together. The list of contributors is awesome (even Lorne!) and I'm looking forward to checking this out.

Thanks, Jeffrey, for putting the word out there on your blog, AND for the kind words regarding my writing. As I've said, wish I could get more editors out there who agree with you and Matt and Mike Knost!
And yes, psyched to have J.K. Potter aboard. Many, many thanks to Pete Crowther for ALL he's done for this book. I might have come up with the concept, and the fine writers in the TOC came up with the stories, but it's all due to Pete that this will see the light of day.

Springsteen's worldview seems to be getting darker all the time. DEVILS & DUST and MAGIC are both bleak, diisturbing, fundamentally adult records. But yes, nothing has quite surpassed NEBRASKA.

As for Metallica, I'm sure 'The Call of Ktulu' inspired some story or other. And a story inspired by 'The Unforgiven' would be cool. And the whole weird...

I'm incredibly humbled to be in the TOC with the other writers. I feel like I showed up at a MLB game with my glove and the coach yelled to me in the stands, "Hey kid, we need you to play." As a massive Springsteen fan I saw it as my duty to make it into the anthology. A public thanks to Harrison for being so damn helpful and patient with me.

I did "Hungry Heart" ... and you'll NEVER guess what it's really about... but I now see I should have set the story on a River bank in Nebraska, or maybe Philadelphia, or maybe Atlantic City, no matter..., with two people (one of them Courtney Cox) who were born (running) in the USA, as they dance in the dark, on the edge of night, doing the two step unwittingly and oh so precariously close to the edge of that river, that rising river....but then suddenly, instead of...

You may have heard mention, on this message board and other places, about the above-mentioned anthology. I'm pleased to announce that the final manuscript has been delivered to PS Publishing. The TOC is as appears below. As soon as there's a link to pre-order the book, I'll post it here. It's slated to see publication in Spring 2009. It was a long and tough journey and I thank everyone involved for helping making this exactly as I envisioned it.
