When just a good thread -- isn't |

You've all experienced it. Enticed by the title of a forum topic, you click the link, eager for some stimulating discussion -- only to find your senses
engulfed by a mind-numbing barrage of insipid funny cat pictures, spam, and canned political arguments from people who can only parrot the talking points of
Rachael Maddow and Sean Hannity.

and as soon as the name calling starts the thread falls off the the edge of the earth. If I had a penny for everytime I saw that happen.

John Morrissey wrote: Nonsense. Certainly we can all agree to strict qualitative measures of what constitutes a good message board thread. After all, a thread must never be produced merely for entertainment's sake. Nay, the original poster must always strive for artistic integrity. The post must have merit. It must broaden horizons and minds. It can never be trivial, nor can it merely be enjoyable. It must always transcend. It must be constructed in a manner that reveals deeper truths about the human condition. Otherwise, it is inferior and must be castigated and driven from the bleating masses like a rabid, herpes-infected llama. Or something.

PS: Apologies to all. I was in a good mood and decided to give you a bit of a laugh by parodying the
other thread.
Apparently, it went over like a lead balloon. We now return you to your regular programming. |

Dear TomokatO --
I find that just looking at the "King of Threads" reveals deeper truths about the human condition. Namely, that we're retarded. And that I wish I had that hat. However, I would like to add that this photo is very well executed. If it was just a shitty, incompetent drawing in crayon on a napkin, it...would probably still be funny. Yer pal, Skipp |

This cat is not here for mere entertainment. This cat has merit and artistic integrity. This cat transcends, baby.
