Actually, upon doing further research it seems that Artie sunk his own ship.
Artie went on a tirade against his personal assistant Teddy. The tirade was abusive and before it was over became violent. It took a bunch of guys to hold Artie back from pummeling Teddy. There seems to have been a history to this as they were arguing out in the hall and Howard thought that it would make good radio to do it in the studio. It escalated quickly and Artie left the building after resigning from the show. Howard accepted his resignation. It seems that Artie and Teddy are on vacation in Amsterdam. |

I haven't listened to Thursday's show yet, but I'm willing to bet it's a bit for the show.
His bit on Wednesday show was hilarious. Although, I will state here that I WAS the first person to snore on the Stern Show for more that 15 minutes straight. Artie falling out of the chair was a lot funnier than my "R.J. The Snorer" deal, though...
