Hey gang, thanks for coming by the all-new Shocklines.com Forums -- a place for horror-lovers to talk to each other about horror books, film, comics, music -- whatever!
Anyone can read the posts here, and anyone who's registered with ezboard can post here. Posts will automatically go up, but we DO have a moderator here -- horror book and film guru Mark Sieber. He's got the power to remove posts, ban users, etc. -- whatever he says, goes.
UP-FRONT DISCLAIMERS:
The opinions and views expressed on this forum are NOT those of Shocklines.com or anyone else besides that of the poster.
Mature themes and language may be discussed here. If you're easily bothered by foul language or adult themes, you may not find this to be the message board forum for you.
THINGS YOU CAN'T DO:
There'sThere's not many rules here. The only MAJOR rule is that you've gotta have respect for your fellow posters. That means no homophobia, no racism, no outright personal attacks will be tolerated. Seriously.
If you're discussing a horror book you didn't like, that's cool -- but do us a favor and keep the criticism intelligent or constructive, and again, not make it a personal attack. A lot of authors post here or read the posts, and we'd like to keep things pretty friendly here.
When it comes to films, feel free to blast away (we feel less bad about that, since in most cases films are the joint projects of dozens, if not hundreds or thousands, of people, and they can all point the finger towards one of the other people if the film bites. With a book, it becomes a little more personal).
We don't care if you link to other sites or discuss places where you can buy stuff, but NO trading or selling or promoting the sale of illegal bootlegs or any non-licensed bootleg merchandise.
Also, please don't post customer service issues about Shocklines.com here in the forum. Our customer service staff doesn't look at this board. If you've got a Shocklines.com beef, email me directly at spinmatt@aol.com.
If you have a question about if something crosses the line or not, ask me or the moderator. All we can say, in short, is that no bulls**t will be tolerated.
THINGS YOU CAN DO:
Yeah, you can swear. But use your head. No swears that are particularly homophobic, racist, or sexist. Or any other -ist you can think of.
You can discuss books and films in depth. But do us a favor -- if you're revealing a key plot point, preface your comment by using the term SPOILER and then putting some blank space in so people can avoid it if they want. So you could do it likes this:
"I really loved the movie up until...
*******SPOILER*********
it turned out Rosebud was his sled."
Got it?
You can talk about things you don't like -- books, films, music, etc. But as mentioned above, have some consideration for the creators of those items, particularly since some of them may frequent this board.
You can occasionally discuss off-topic things. But try to keep it reasonable, and put this -- (OT) -- in the posting heading so people know it's not related to anything.
You can talk about other bookstores, link to other bookstores, sing their praises, etc. We're not going to get upset -- this is meant as a general horror forum, NOT a Shocklines.com forum. Go wild with it.
Howz that sound for starters? Again, the main thing to remember is just show common courtesy and respect to your fellow posters and everything'll be great. Now go start yer posting!
