I'd like to answer this in terms of the actual wording in the post itself--asking for (personal) favorites outside the genre--rather than the more
difficult and objective task implied in the topic "top 4 authors outside of horror."
That said, I'm having a hard time. The first four who came to mind have written some horror fiction, even if they're not always associated with the genre in the main:
