My husband hauls fuel for a living so we've got a double whammy on us. Higher prices (about $125 a week for him to get to/from work) and his hours have been cut drastically the past few weeks. This is horrible.

I heard a week or so ago something passed in the U.S. that was supposed to help ease the prices. I guess they're not putting any fuel in reserves for the
rest of the year? Did anyone hear about that? And when will this start helping?

I heard very little hurrah about it so I don't know what's going on there.

The price will only increase. Check out this doom-heavy site for exhaustive discussions on this all-consuming subject:

Well it hit 4.25 at one station here in Phoenix. I am so glad I can walk to work.

Yes, my husband's been taking the bus. It means he gets up earlier and gets home later, but it's far cheaper than gas -- $30 for an unlimited ride
pass.

The world is changing, that's for sure. As India and China progress and start to burn fossil fuels like we Americans do, the supply is going to be stressed
and the existing reserves are going to be drained. I really think that the cheap oil era is over...we can look back and remember it fondly. We're all in
for a life change.
I'm constantly amazed at the people who expect the world to stay the same. They expect the racial makeup in their community to stay the same forever, society's attitudes to stay the same, the job market to stay the same...everything to stay the same as it was in the mythical time of perfection when they were kids. Well, the world changes. If we're lucky, we'll live long enough to see a lot of changes. The only way to avoid change is to die young. Me, I'll take the changes and try to roll with the punches. It wouldn't hurt me to bicycle to work...probably provide some badly needed exercise. Maybe I'll do it when gas hits $5/gallon. Maybe I'll do it anyway. Hey, high gas prices are one way to unclog the freeways! Jan |

My car was totaled in October, and frankly, we've just not looked for a replacement. The bus is much cheaper in the long run, anyway.

Just hit 3.99 here in the Boston area

$3.87 for unleaded regular gas...it's past $4.50 for diesel and $4 something for those fancy pants premium gasolines here in the Dallas area.

the cheap stuff is 4.29 here in San Diego. That's the cheapest I've seen it. Some stations are at 4.49...for regular unleaded! I drive 25 miles each
way to and from work. It's ridiculous.

This is going to shoot grocery prices through the roof. Milk is already ridiculous (it's almost $4 a gallon) as are bread and eggs. :sigh: I have a brother
who raises hens and sells the eggs - it's a professional business he runs. I wish he lived closer; his eggs are delicious!! (that didn't sound right

I've got a diesel VW, so here in Providence, RI, I pay $4.99. Get about 42 miles/gallon, but still, that's nearly $5! Sam
