That was absolutely wretched. Completely false from the get-go.

Surprisingly, Ronnie Yu's episode (S1E3) is the strongest so far. Have to say that although I was VERY mixed on the 1st and 4th episodes (and was
massively disappointed in the 2nd), I think this series is infinitely stronger than either season of Masters Of Horror (at least, so far).

When she got that note I told my wife that the note was meant for her fiancee'. Then I fell asleep and never saw the ending.

As soon as I saw that the note said "the person" rather than being more specific, I knew what was going on.

As soon as I saw that the note said "the person" rather than being more specific, I knew what was going on.Yep. I mean, can you BE any more obvious? That just stuck out like a sore thumb. Why not put something like: "You are about to marry a Serial Killer!" That's a little less obvious. Put the focus on the 'serial killer' part and not on 'the person'. It's just obvious something is up when you go gender non-specific. Reminds me of those old "It's Patt" skits from Saturday Night Live. Just plain horrible writing. |

A rare sighting of Rich Chizmar in the
wild
Growing up three blocks apart, Richard Chizmar and Johnathon Schaech spent their teenage days hanging out at a supposed haunted house in Harford County, trying to frighten each other and their friends with scary stories. More than 20 years later, the duo from Edgewood is still telling horror stories - this time on television. An episode called "Eater," written by Chizmar and Schaech, airs at 10 tonight on NBC's 13-episode summer series Fear Itself. |

[spoilers] The bride episode was all atmosphere, no sense. They were pretty heavy on the Catholic imagery - like, yes, we need another sixteen shots of
grotesque statuary - and the acting was all wrong. As others pointed out, if she was the killer, there was no reason for her to be afraid of him, and there
were too many red herrings - the groom himself, his creepy best friend, the twin uncles, even the glaring bridesmaids... geez, overload much?
But I did like the use of sound to freak us out, the creeping through the church, and Father Cigarette Smoking Man! Good to see he's getting work. ekd

I enjoyed Eaters for the most part, which is all I can say about the whole series thus far. My biggest complaint is that the stories have all been so
telegraphed. Great atmosphere, better than expected special effects, and competent acting... now they just need to tighten up their scripts and they'll be
on to something...

What a pile of dunk. Eater, that is. And this is coming from a man who respects and admires Mr. Chizmar very much, so it is NOT a personal attack. Maybe the
producers were too involved. Maybe the script was altered several times. Whatever the case may be, I found the episode to be unoriginal, uninspired, hokey,
and the dialogue wretched. And it seemed to me the female was written into the story just to have the men ridicule her endlessly for being a female police
officer. Again, extremely unoriginal. So much so that I was rolling my eyes throughout. If this is the 'supposed' best episode thus far, I can
scratch the Fear Itself series from further viewing. Bob

This was the best episode so far. That said, Eater hasn't had much in the way of competition. Did anyone else catch the small-lettered, fast-moving end
credits? I read, "Based on the Story by Peter Crowther." Which story is this and where was it published?

eater had minor issues but for the most part it was well done. I was amazed by the seen where he pan fried the tongue, how do they get that on network TV? Of
course as a vegan I don't think that is any grosser than a steak commercial.
So far I think getting rid of the nudity on masters of horror has helped because it's kinda forced them to make the shows a little smarter.

Jared Sandmann wrote:Agreed. One of the first that I didn't guess the end half way through the episode. I can't help but feel that these would work better if these were half-hour shows. TALES FROM THE CRYPT packed some great twisted stories into 22-minutes. Keep Smiling, Jan |
