In the Fall and Wintertime, when the weather is cooler and the living room draftier, I tend to write stories while wearing my "lucky" and trusty cardigan. Or what I call my writer's sweater. For me, it's kind of a good luck charm. Anyway, whenever I wear it, I seem to really produce quality material and I find that my acceptance ratio is 6 out of every 10 e-subbed when it comes time to what's been collected in the old short story folder. Some people have rabbit's feet, others bobbleheads and figurines, family keepsakes and mementos... Anyway, does anybody keep a "Good Luck" charm or special "knick-knack" by their computer when writing? But when I finish a book, I get out my White Star Line replica wineglass. I picked it up at a Titanic exhibit in Chicago when I was writing my first novel, and when I finished it, I drank a glass of wine from that wineglass. My desk is my dining room table. So all my 'charms' and such are in the pass-through counter between here and the kitchen. My biggest thing? My candles and incense. And more candles and more incense.
