NECON-who is going? Should I go? |
Lead | |
|
It's looking like I MAY be able to afford Necon this year. I know the clock is ticking. Are there still spots left? Who's going? Should I go?
Someone talk me into or out of it! I'm feeling prone to peer pressure right now.

Last year was my first time and I had a ball.
A lot of really nice people and a lot of fun. I hated to leave. Go.
Yes . . . I really am a Democrat.

I've gone to NECON the past two years. I don't know if I will make it this year but I would recommend going if you can. Everyone is really nice and if
you don't have a good time, you have no one to blame but yourself.

I'm going, Bill! That's reason enough for you to go, isn't it?!!?!?!?!

During a recent email exchange, Papnecon mentioned there are still some openings. I realized I hadn't registered, so my $$ go in today.

Ack! I keep forgetting my registration is still sitting in the bottom of my purse waiting for me to stop forgetting to put it in the mailbox!

I had a great time last year, met some great people, and of course drank too much. Wish I could go this year, but finances prevent it. If you have the chance,
do it.

I would recommend going. It's a lot fun, it's relaxing, and you get to hang out with horror writers for 4 days. Do you need more incentive? Oh, yes,
just ignore Mr. Soares and you'll have a great time.
Has there been any emails sent regarding Necon filling up? I emailed Dan once a few months back and he said he'd send an email out when things were getting close. There isn't a campers list up yet, so I don't know how many spots are left. I still have to get my registration in or it's going to be a music-free Necon. Well, a Gary-free Necon, at the very least. Peace, Gary . . .

Because so many people have been hurt by or distrust the economy our numbers our down this year. We've already surpassed World Horror (at least what I
heard they got) but we still have plenty of spots left.
We haven't put the list up because we've been busy doing non-Necon stuff. I plan to work with Dan over the weekend to generate a list and get it up on the web site. This year's Necon publications will include volume 2 of our Hall of Fame memoir series which will include memoirs (with photos and art reproductions) of Jill Bauman; Alan Ryan; and Tom Monteleone. I am in the process of getting this book ready for the printer and can guarantee an entertaining read. None of the three hold anything back. I can assure you that you will read things about the giants and near-giants of our field that you didn't know. Next year will be Necon 30. I assume the economy will be better by then and we have some surprises planned. If you've never come to Necon before this year is your best chance. And it will get you on the preferred mailing list for Necon 30. Besides we have Skipp. What else do you need to know? Bob Booth |

I intend to be there, although there are certain situations on the horizon that may preclude me from going. Still, I suspect I'll be there, given that
I'm registered .

Could someone email Dan's current email address to me? I sent him a message and haven't heard back, so I suspect I have an old address. Thanks!

Honestly? I can't wait. Never been, and for a corn-fed, country boy like me....it seems like a dream.

My first time as well. And I'm bringing a kiddie pool and 100 gallons of pudding. I intend to find out if some of you are as tough in real life as you are
online.

My opinion on Necon, without pulling any punches is.....GO!!!!!
It is one of my ultimate sorrows -- along with my inability to get a decent grand marnier soufflee out of the oven and to the table without collapse -- that I'll be unable to attend this year. As for Pudding Guy --- if you DO end up bringing pudding and a kiddie pool --- and the Mikes show up --- and you can get them IN it --- I will go to my grave mourning the visual opportunities I missed. <sigh> |
