Has anyone else noticed the extreme drop in quality between this season and last? It's barely the same show.

I don't know... I'm halfway through Season One's DVD set and it's not really "that" great a show. I'm actually disappointed after
the first few episodes. The acting kind of sucks, gets unrealistic and downright stupid at times, it's over-riddled with cliches, and the cursing for the
sake of cursing gets to be kind of ridiculous. Eh, this is drama?
I think HBO made a vampire series based off the Harris books and said, let's put boobs, curses, and it's got to be a tremendous success because ----------------------------> Also see Sopranos for Mafia version of that, Deadwood is the Western version of that, or Entourage for Young Movie Star and his Playboy Pals version of that. Etc. Etc. My wife enjoys the author's books and show though. Don't know what she sees in it though.

Season 1 - started out bad and then got really really good. So you can't judge it on the first few episodes.
Season 2 - kicks ass. I think it easily maintains the quality of Season 1 so far. No complaints from me at all.

Yeah, we're only 2 eps in but I already like season 2 better. I think season 1 was more silly than scary and plodded on at times ...

It's probably my favorite show on the air right now.
Well, until Mad Men starts up again.

That's pretty much what it is: silly, but not scary, and plodding on in an unarticulate manner. But then maybe it will improve. I hope it gets better than
those first six eps, that's for sure.

I agree with Lawrence. I know it's early, but this season has too much going on and it feels unfocused. I read somewhere that the writers aren't
going to stick very closely to the books.
I'm looking forward to the new vampire series on the CW, The Vampire Diaries, and hoping it won't be all Twilighty. But it probably will be. |

I hated the first episode of True Blood, but I was hooked by the second. Now with the new season, I like it even more.
The only thing I don't enjoy about the series is having to wait a week to see the next episode. |

I hate the "religious" thingie that Jason is currently on
I hope it leads somewhere nasty arse ... Bill doesn't really do it for me - can't see the attraction for Sookie really.... But he;s OK I guess... Like the humour of Season 2 -it needs it... Getting a bit fed up with the constant chip on Tara's shoulder... Get the fuck over it girl... Anyway, overall, a good show...... |

Any new comments about the show after the last two episodes??

The season was hit or miss for me, but I really dug the last couple of episodes. The whole Jason/Cop (forget his name) buddy thing is hysterical. I never cared
much for the Maryanne character and they certainly dragged it out (she wasn't in the books much at all), but from what I've heard it's about to
finally come to an end. Then again, the season's almost over, right? Like one more episode?

For the most part, I thought Season 2 was pretty wild with plenty of surprises!

Hate the Maryanne character. They need to just cut it out with that. I don't want any more supernatural creatures actually. No more shapeshifters or demons
or Maenads. It's supposed to be about vampires! My suspension of disbelief crashed and burned this season. Strangely enough, I still sort of enjoyed it.

I read the first Sookie Stackhouse novel and just couldn't get into it. Will wait for regular TV reruns!!

Just finished watching Season 1, which I borrowed from a guy at work. While it didn't really "hook" me -- my wife likes it a lot, and the show
did keep me entertained enough to finish the set, although I was always occupied with something else while she had it on in the background, and I probably
didn't dig it enough to go out of my way to watch any subsequent seasons (whew!) -- I've gotta say that the opening credits and theme song to TRUE
BLOOD absolutely *kick fucking ass*.
I could sit and watch that over and over. Love the Southern tone, the sex/religion back-and-forth images, and that tune. Very, very cool . . . would love to see whoever came up with that direct a Joe R. Lansdale adaptation, with a soundtrack by that artist! J.N. |

Michelle Forbes as MaryAnne made this season for me. I love the passive/aggressive new age guru who really just wants to chomp on the town. I think I've
worked with a few Maenads in Tinseltown.
