Convenient that he already appears to have been embalmed.

Vince Liaguno wrote:Vince, you're absolutely right. Now Michael Jackson will be treated like some kind of saint. I'm watching CNN, and it has already begun. It's bad enough his death will now totally overshadow Farrah's (who, the last time I checked, had never been on trial for possibly hurting children). I won't go on a rant, but I do not adhere to this philosophy that once someone dies "all is forgiven."

No, L.L. you're right; this, "He was a saint" once someone dies is bullshit. No matter his talent, and musicianship, he was just another
pedophile. Albeit one who got away with it, because of who he was.

Isn't it so incredibly weird, though, how suddenly he died after Farrah? I was watching news about her, when a news break came on about him. And people
always say celebrities die in threes, but here's more proof. It's just weird.

I will always remember him for two things... First, THRILLER (which introduced me to zombies and would later lead to movies such as Dawn and Day of the Dead.
He had a profound impact on my life. And having grown up in the 80's MTV generation: Lauper, Mellencamp, Hall and Oates, you name it, he was one of my
early icons.
I heard THOUSANDS of people stopped in Times Square to text message, call their friends and loved ones on cell phones, and CRY (you could hear the "omigods" and "moans" for blocks). Then the streets went silent.

Jackson's last trial was certainly a crock of shit. That kid and his mother were nothing but shakedown artists, who had been hunting for a celebrity to
leach onto long before they met him.

I don't think that the amount of media coverage really has much to do with guilt or innocence. That's the only thing that the two have in common.

Michael Jackson was a tragically flawed man. Was it possible that he was a pedophile? Yes. But listening to the way people talked about him, I don't
believe so.

I'm not saying that he didn't do anything stupid, either. Nobody who has ever been accused of pedophilia should host fucking pajama parties with other
people's kids. I think he was a very naive, self-destructive and weak person, who was also charitable and creative. And I think he was asexual, not a
pedophile. He had a very deprived childhood, like a lot of child stars, and had a hangup about wanting to relive his youth. That's what I think, anyway. He
certainly let a lot of slimy people come into his life.

Back in the '80s Michael was a pretty regular fixture at L.A.'s music and bookstores; I remember shopping the Tower Records on Ventura and seeing him
flipping through the racks, surgical mask pulled up and hat pulled down. Weirdly enough, everybody knew who he was, but nobody ever bothered him, and I think
most of us who encountered him just pitied him. So, although I agree with Vince about our society's unfortunate obsession with celebrity, I can't help
but feel sorry for a man who had to make a pathetic attempt to disguise himself just so he could buy a few new CDs, and who I have now outlived.

"Dirty Diana" is still a kick-ass tune. Dude was especially weird, though. Not sure if he truly diddled kids, but he was clearly mentally damaged. I tend to believe he wasn't a pervert/child molester. I think, mentally, he was a damn child. Just fucked up in the head. I used to sleep in the same bed with my friends when I was really young. A lot of people I know go, "What? I never did that!" I find that hard to believe, but maybe it didn't happen to richer people. We were all poor as hell, and there was literally nowhere for us to sleep besides the floor or share a bed. We slept going in opposite directions. Yeah, that keeps the puzzle pieces lined up, I guess, but it really wasn't weird or gay at all. And I'm talking like well under the age of 10 here, so sexual thoughts of any kind were years away anyway. MJ was old and should have known better, but when people think it's okay for a man to believe he's a woman, why can't people get on board with an equally crazy dude thinking he's still a kid? |

Bookhoard wrote:Listen, Michael Jackson leaves behind a legacy much more powerful than these scandals (then there's the paparazzi, and Joe Jackson forcing him to work, work, work as a kid). The man revolutionized music FOREVER -- not just then and now, but for decades to come -- and wayyy more than Elvis Presley now. He revolutionized the music industry where future recording artists would get higher royalty rates, too. He was a businessman and a marketing genius. So what? So he supposedly blew a tsunami of man batter out of his yogi bear on some kid's doink. He's still Michael Jackson. He's donated to famine in Africa. He's donated to children's charities. He's donated again and again and again. He's a certified humanitarian. He's fought for creative artists (musicians) receiving the wages they should receive, and soooo much more. ...But he leaves behind a legacy that will never be topped, and that is in his music and talent. For Farrah Fawcett, her legacy was being herself and most of all LOVE. It was about her and Ryan O' Neal. And, if you watched the 20/20 specials tonight with Barbara Walters, staring fear in the face.

Anyway, it's 12:30 right now. In five, six hours the autopsy will be out Eastern Standard Time.
I bet you he died of pain killer abuse. Took its toll finally on his heart. Like a good deal of other celebrities.

He was clearely a man with serious mental problems - issues with self-image and sexuality. Showbiz took a child and created a monster, then slew it in the
glare of the spotlight. It doesn't suprise me that such a creature didn't live to a ripe old age...
