I'm very excited about this one! I love the original Twilight Zone series (i've seen every episode numerous times, own every issue of TZ magazine, Zicree's TZ companion, etc.), and to be able to not only work with a number of the original writers for it and experts on the series, but to also commemorate it on the 50th anniversary of the year it debuted on TV is the capper!

The fiction is all new except for Matheson's classic tale (one of the TZ favorites of many for sure). Hamner's story is very TZ flavored, Nolan's teleplay is an adaptation for a series that hopefully will get off the ground sometime in the future, Brock's story is a wonderful sequel to Matheson's tale that Richard himself read and loved (what better stamp of approval a you ask for?) and gave us permission to pursue reprinting his original story, and lastly Apex Digest's fine publisher and editor sent me a great story with a wonderful TZ influence to it that fit right in.

And the essays and articles are amazing! Marc Scott Zicree kicks it off with a great overview of the show, John Tomerlin reflects on writing his sole episode for Beaumont and TZ, Hamner talks about his relationship with Serling and writing for TZ, Roger Anker contributes an excerpt from his forthcoming Charles Beaumont biography, Jason Brock contributes an amazing, scholarly piece on the nucleus of "The Group" and the relationship and various connections between them and Serling and Bradbury, Christopher Conlon contributes a great article on the unproduced Twilight Zone scripts, and the editor of the Serling scripts series, Tony Abarella, contributes an essay on the man himself.

If you're a fan of TZ, it's a must have! If you not a big fan of it, or at all, I think there is still much to be appreciated and learned from in this issue. Matheson's story is a horror classic and still holds up extremely well today. A great example of how to build a well-crafted, tension-filled fantasy tale. You also have a post-humous collaboration between two masters - William Nolan and Charles Beaumont. The other stories are also great new dark tales regardless of their TZ flavor, and the articles all have much merit for anybody interesting in writing for TV or the movies or writing in general. It also shows what the relevance and impact of the series and the writers involved is today.
