Wouldn't a better promotional idea have been to give away $10, 000 worth of books? That might have given him more word of mouth publicity and driven sales
far more in the long-term than a news story that will be forgotten tomorrow.

"Wouldn't a better promotional idea have been to give away $10, 000 worth of books?"
His book is titled "Marketing Revolution," so I'm guessing he needed a genuine stunt to make a point. I'm also guessing it's the kind of book that people need to hear about and think, "Oh yeah, that crazy guy who threw all those rupiahs out of a plane!" Not saying it's the best stunt, but I've known writers who spent double or triple than this on publicists and told me, afterward, "I might as well have burned the money while I had it." |

What exactly is cost-effective book promotion? That $10,000 could lead to $1,000,000 in sales - but not in Indonesia
(if the avg. daily wage is just $2).

Yes, all those poverty-stricked Indonesians are certainly going to benefit from that book.
Hey, maybe George Bush could do this, and call it another tax incentive. We can spend the dollars in the mall!
