Oh yeah...I'll post the geocaching pics after the con.
My camera took some great pics in the cemetery at night. But for now, here's a snippet from the Mother Grove concert last night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i25TugSL91s

My own blog concerning Mo Con:
Another fantastic MoCon... if you weren't there, you missed a terrific gathering of fans and professionals at The Dwelling Place in Indianapolis. There were many personal highlights for me... Taking part in the Spirituality panel was a real honor. Sitting alongside (well, looming behind would be more accurate) Mark Rainey, Nick Mamatas, Maurice Broaddus, Gary Braunbeck, Kim Paffenroth, and moderator Matt Cardin was inspiring. It was a terrific discussion and I was thrilled by the openness and honesty of the panelists. A witty, well-read, and hyper-intelligent group of thoughtful individuals. I think everyone came away from the panel with a deeper insight into ones spiritual journey... The editors panel was incredibly revelatory. Joining the familiar faces of Nick Mamatas, Matt Cardin, and moderator Mark Rainey from the spirituality panel were Jason Sizemore, Chesya Burke and Frank Creed. It was a must-hear dialogue on the ins and outs of publishing and the dos and don'ts of submissions. Really, that panel alone was worth the price of admission. The gender panel... featuring Gary Braunbeck, Lucy Snyder, Chesya Burke, Kelli Dunlap, and moderator Natalie Chrish... was equally insightful. I mean, we were all able to all come together and agree that women are better writers than men, after all. I got a real kick out of baiting Kelli Dunlap into giving me a much needed tongue-lashing. I love Kelli to death, first and foremost because she is one of the most honest people I know. She is never afraid to share an opinion with you, in fact she'll bludgeon you with it. I was in need of someone to shake some sense into me, and I knew Kelli would be up to the task. She didn't disappoint. I spent a lot of time chatting up Mark Rainey, or should I make that "The Legendary Mark Rainey" as Maurice so eloguently introduced him each chance he got. I've been chummy with Mark online for several years now. I've always found him funny, insightful, and a downright inspiration. He is one of the most truly gifted authors I've ever had the pleasure to read and it's been a real honor to consider him a friend. It was especially nice to finally meet the man in person, shake his hand, and bend his ear for the better part of a day. How many great conversations did I have throughout the day? From chatting up Dr. Kim Paffenroth, Doug Warrick, Alethea Kontis, Deb Kuhn, Brian Hatcher, and many more... I was there for far too short a time... And that's what MoCon is all about. Its relaxed nature is the perfect venue for friends, fans, and professionals to come together and hang out, to learn from each other and be better for having attended. The themes of each MoCon have opened up terrific dialogs and elevated the attendee just by being in the presence of such thoughtful individuals. I always thrill to having the chance to spend time with my IHW family... Maurice, Natalie, Lauren, Jerry, Tracy, Sara, Michelle, Tiffany, and Michael are each and every one dear friends and compatriots. Of course, then I started the long drive northward and my van broke down, leaving me stranded for hours while I waited for my wife and son to drive down to rescue me. The Law had my vehicle towed and now I have to spend the next few days jumping through hoops to get her back. I guess karma has a way of keeping everything balanced. I just wish that karma would do so without hitting my wallet so hard. |

I'll post a brief report/response to my blog later today, but for now I'll chime in to say that the convention was truly a great time, even the Mo*Con
III.2 experience wherein Nick Mamatas and I became refugees from an inclement weather situation that prevented flights from leaving the airport, and ended up
crashing at Maurice's house with his pleasant and patient wife, his two delightful kids, and a handful of other Mo*Conners. Weakling that I am, I became
the only one to finally abandon the party and steal a few brief hours of sleep before the early-morning flight. Given the far-ranging nature of the
conversations and debates that had taken place up until then, I can only imagine what all was talked about in the wee hours of the morning while I was zonked
out.
And this was all after I missed my Friday morning flight to Indianapolis because Mapquest took me to a non-existent airport. Thanks for having us, Maurice. You are coolness incarnate. |

It was great. Given all the flight problems, perhaps my decision to drive was not all bad, as it was an uneventful drive and I watched Shrek the Third (which I
hadn't seen before) on Sunday night in the motel room on the way back
Thanks to Maurice, and I had a great time.

Apparently I speak in big words. That was the consensus at Mo*Con. This amuses me, especially in light of previous comments to the same effect that have come
from family and friends. I just blogged about it, hopefully in accessible fashion.
